Ovulation is the time during a woman’s menstrual cycle when an egg is released from an ovary and travels down the fallopian tube. Once the egg is released, there is a 24-hour period during which the egg is viable for fertilization. If sperm does not fertilize the egg during that time, conception will not occur. Therefore, the most important task in timing a planned pregnancy is to predict the dates you are going to ovulate. Because you do not have a window into your uterus, you can’t see when that egg has been released. However, there are some pretty accurate methods to figuring out when you will be ovulating.

Ovulation Predictor #1 – Count the Days Women with regular periods can predict their dates of ovulation fairly accurately. Usually, ovulation occurs 10 to 14 days after a woman begins the first day of her period. Marking down day one of the start of your period and then counting 10 to 14 days after that is the simplest way to predict when you are going to ovulate.

Ovulation Predictor #2 – Take a Home Test Your local pharmacies now carry ovulation predictor tests. They work in much the same way as a pregnancy test does. You hold a stick in your urine stream and the stick will then give you a positive or negative ovulation result. These tests are useful if you have fairly regular cycles and you want extra reassurance for scheduling intercourse for conception. You take a test around the time that you think you are ovulating, and the test can confirm your prediction. However, the accuracy of these tests sometimes leaves something to be desired, as they can provide false negatives. Additionally, the ovulation predictor tests can be very costly if your cycles are irregular and you have no idea approximately when you will ovulate.

Ovulation Predictor #3 – Check Your Basal Body Temperature Taking your basal body temperature with a basal thermometer is a more accurate and less expensive way of predicting ovulation. Basal thermometers are inexpensive and can be purchased at pharmacies. Because basal temperatures rise ever so slightly, you cannot monitor them with a regular thermometer. Take your temperature as soon as you wake in the morning, and keep track of the daily recordings. When you see the temperatures start to rise you’ll know that you are getting close to ovulating.

Ovulation Predictor #4 – Note Any Type of Body Discomfort Many women can feel a change in their bodies when they are getting ready to ovulate. Some women can feel a slight swelling in their ovaries when they gently press on that area. Other women feel a slightly uncomfortable, bloating-type of feeling when they are getting ready to ovulate. If you fall into this category, consider yourself somewhat lucky because you can tell without a whole lot of effort when you are ovulating.

Ovulation Predictor #5 – Evaluate Your Cervical Mucus While this may be the least desirable of the prediction methods, many women are convinced this is the best way to predict ovulation. When you are close to ovulation, the cervical mucus changes in consistency. It will go from cloudy to clear and it will become stretchy. If you check the mucus every day, you will become skilled at noting the changes and you can tell when you are ovulating.

Predicting ovulation cannot always be done with 100% accuracy, but you can get close to determining the dates so that you can time your intercourse and massively increase your chances of pregnancy faster!

If you want to have a baby girl or daughter, there are several variables during the course of your fertility cycle that you can manipulate and / or control to help to greatly increase your odds. This article will discuss natural and inexpensive ways to do this.

The first key to having a baby girl is conceiving prior to ovulation. Here’s why this is important:

X (Girl) Sperm Are Slower, But Can Survive Longer Than Y (Boy) Sperm: When trying to conceive, a man’s sperm contains chromosomes that during conception will produce either a male or female baby. If sperm containing a Y chromosome fertilize the egg first, a boy baby is the result. If, however, you can manipulate certain variables to get an X (girl) chromosome-containing sperm to fertilize the egg first, then the conception will results in a baby girl.

To do this, it’s important to understand that the girl (X) sperm are pretty hardy and can survive for much longer than the boy sperm in harsh and acidic vaginal PH / conditions. You can use these factors to your advantage.

Timing Of Ovulation To Conceive A Girl: If you want to have a daughter, you should schedule conception three days prior to the day you ovulate. That’s because the X (girl) sperm can survive and wait for your egg, but Y (boy) sperm generally can not.

Obviously, knowing exactly when you ovulate is vital to be able to time this right. If you’re late, then you’d significantly lower your chances of having a girl, since conceiving much closer to ovulation will favor a baby boy (because the Y sperm are faster and will typically reach the egg first.)

There are many ways that women track their ovulation, including observing the position of the cervix and its mucus and taking your basal temperature. But, I find these methods to be too difficult to interpret and too subjective to be completely accurate. That’s why I much prefer ovulation predictor kits. Of these, I prefer the saliva kits because they are inexpensive, reusable, and extremely accurate.

Vaginal PH And Acidity To Increase The Odds For A Girl Baby: Of course, conceiving three days before ovulation is only one piece of the puzzle. To really optimize your odds, you’ll also need to create a highly acidic vaginal PH / environment. That’s because the girl sperm can easily handle this while the boy sperm can not. An acidic vaginal PH will favor having a daughter while an alkaline one will favor having a son.

First, you’ll need to test your PH using testing strips to see where you naturally are and how much acidity you need to add to get into the “girl zone.” Some women are naturally acidic and some are naturally alkaline (one of the reasons having boy or girl babies runs in families). You can get the PH strips at health food stores or online.

Luckily, you can change your PH through douching with specific formulas based on where you fall or by avoiding or consuming specific foods. Optimally, you’ll want to do both, but I know some people prefer not to douche. You can add acidity with foods, but you’ll have to be more diligent about it.

Intercourse Positioning To Conceive A Daughter / Baby Girl: In addition to conceiving three days prior to ovulation (after altering your vaginal PH), it’s also recommended that you conceive using intercourse positions that deposit the sperm further away from the cervix. Doing so will give the weaker boy sperm more distance to travel.

If you’ve manipulated all of the variables correctly, you’ll make it much easier for the girl sperm to reach and fertilize the egg first, while making it much more difficult for the boy sperm to do the same.

best time of month to get pregnant One of the most frequently asked questions about pregnancy is the best time to get pregnant. It is neither the Christmas time nor the Valentine’s Day. One needs to be good in mathematics if one is serious about getting pregnant as it totally depends on the ovulating days. Now the question arises that how should one calculate this crucial time? For people who are good in mathematics need not worry but others should get hold of an Ovulation Calculator. It is important to have some knowledge about one’s own body and its functioning in order to find out the probable dates of ovulation. The ‘post ovulation time’ or the ‘Luteal Phase’ is the period between ovulation and the first day of the menstrual cycle. This period consists of fourteen days and is the same for most women. After fourteen days of the ovulation the period starts. Now what one needs to know is the date due for the next period. By counting back twelve to sixteen days from this date, one is likely to get the days of ovulation. Generally, women who have a cycle of twenty eight days, ovulate on the fourteenth day. Since this is so important to know in order to get pregnant, the ovulation date can also be checked through the BBT technique or the Basal Body Temperature. This is a method that involves the recording of vaginal temperature every morning by a BBT thermometer (with a fine calibration). The thermometer displays a higher temperature on the day of ovulation that the other days. To explain this fact in a simpler way, the egg starts developing from the end of the menstrual cycle and between the 8th to 12th days it is at its maximum. So the chance to get pregnant is the most if one has intercourse on the 8th, the 10th and the 12th day. This is the most effective time to get pregnant. One shocking fact related to getting pregnant is that the egg lives only for a period of 12 to 16 hours in a cycle! Many gynecologists are of the opinion that the life span of the egg ranges from 12 to 24 hours. But the fertility experts say that it is likely to wither away within 15 to 16 hours. So it is important to hit it at the correct time! Now its time to shift the focus from the Woman to the Man! If a couple has intercourse on regular basis, it is likely that the strength of the sperms may lack the desired force and the sperm count may also be less than it is required for the fertility level. In addition, the rate of sperm motility may also be hampered. Again, if the sexual union is not so frequent, there are chances that the sperms may become stale and old, making it lack its desired vitality. According to the opinion of the fertility experts, coitus should take place twice weekly for the best result. It is surprising that tough the female ovum dies within such a short period, the male sperm survives and moves about from 2 to 5 days within the vaginal canal. Keeping this fact in mind, it may be fruitful to have intercourse a couple of days earlier than the date of ovulation, so that the sperm gets plenty of opportunities to hit the egg. It is important here to point out that following all the above mentioned guidelines may not be enough for getting pregnant. For further assistance, one may turn to holistic remedies that helps find out the actual cause of a problem if there is any and then suggests a remedy that is accurate. These remedies are of a wide range that includes Chinese medications to acupuncture, from exercise to helpful herbs, from lifestyle changes to a healthy and balances diet.
