Has anyone ever had a problem getting pregnant after you have your cervix frozen?

I had an abnormal pap smear in April of last year, In May they did a biopsy, and a week after that I had to have my cervix frozen to remove the abnormal cells. So, I am trying to get pregnant again and it’s been two months, ( I know that isn’t a long time) When I got pregnant with my son I was on the birth control patch and was two days late putting a new one back on and got pregnant, I know every pregnancy is different but I was just curious if this will effect me getting pregnant.

  1. **Due in September** Says:

I had a LEEP done to my cervix almost 2 1/2 years ago. I am currently 18 weeks pregnant. I was on birth control until September of last year. Got married in October and was pregnant the begining of December so my opinion no, however your biopsy has only been less than a year ago, so that may have something to do with it. Mine was over 2 years ago and they are still doing transvaginal ultrasounds every 4 weeks because my cervix is shorter, due to the surgery which can cause pre-term labor. I’d just try to relax and it will happen (I’m sure easier said than done huh) but make sure you make your OB aware of your biopsy so they can measure your cervix. They started first did that for me at 16 weeks and I go back in at 20 weeks for the same thing- Good luck!

  2. Mum of 1 & Induction date: 4/15! Says:

I was told the same thing back in October before my husband and I got married. I’m still really scared, but I’m glad to know the process of an abnormal pap smear. I’m really worried, even though my doctors aren’t saying it’s anything to worry about. I’m going to bookmark this one because I really want to know of anything else that could happen; my husband and I want to conceive 2yrs after I give birth on Tuesday!

I would though talk to your doctor about being ready for conceiving again. And let them also know is there any way your body shouldn’t be ready for you to not get pregnant. Good Luck!

I was told that it takes at least a year before your body can conceive because your cervix wont be ready for you to conceive. I was going to have the leep done because I had an abnormal pap when they did the biopsy they didn’t find anything but wanted to do the leep for further testing and they said that would take between 1 and 3 years before you could carry a baby. It is not suggested to do this until at least a year after the procedure is done. Just because your cervix wont be strong enough.

Good luck. My mom had it done and still had a baby after having hers frozen but she had him 8 years later because that is when she was ready for another baby.
